HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT TAKE? HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?

The average treatment session lasts from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Treatment time directly correlates with the area or areas that are being treated or if conjunctive filler procedures are completed. One treatment with Botox Cosmetic™ will last anywhere from 3 to 6 months possibly longer. When fillers are combined with Botox Cosmetic™, studies have shown a cosmetic benefit which can last up to twelve months. Repeat treatments are carried out when the benefits of Botox Cosmetic™ have worn off.

WHAT IS THE PRE OP INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOTOX COSMETIC™?

Patients should discontinue the use of retinoic acid products and glycolic acid 3 to 4 days before treatment. In addition, patients should discontinue blood thinners one week before their procedure. We usually administer Tylenol™ at the time of the treatment. This will help to alleviate headache development, which sometimes occurs with Botox Cosmetic™ therapy.

HOW MUCH DISCOMFORT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THE TREATMENT?

The discomfort and pain during procedure is very minimal. Those patients who are afraid of any injections usually say afterwards that they expected it to hurt much more.

HOW LONG BEFORE I SEE THE RESULTS?

Patients should be advised that it can take up to 3 to 7 days to see Botox Cosmetic’s effects. If you do not see results within this time, then it is possible that you are resistant to treatment or are forming antibodies to Botox Cosmetic™.

WHAT ABOUT POST OP RECOVERY TIME?

We recommend avoiding exercise for 24 hours. Do not lie flat for about 4 hours after treatment. We also recommend that you have Tylenol™ ready for any post Botox Cosmetic™ headache. Concealing makeup is recommended to minimize redness or bruising if it should occur. Patients should contact their physician if they develop any complications, such as brow drop, double vision. These are very rare occurrences so you should notify your physician immediately upon occurrence. There is little to no downtime with botox and injectables which is why it is used as a quick fix.
