I wanted to achieve a more full look to my lips, but still have them look as natural as possible. My top lip was pretty thin with a bigger bottom lip. So, I wanted to enhance my top lip and even a little more for my bottom lip as well. I decided to go with Juvederm based on the recommendations of my injector.
I saw a dermatology physician assistant for my Juvederm injections at an aesthetic surgery practice. The P.A. gave me several injections of lidocain underneath my lips at my gums to block the nerve pain of the injections. This numbing part was quite painful, but I believe much worth it to avoid the Juvederm injection pain, since the procedure can last up to 30 minutes. During the Juvederm injections, some parts of my lips didn’t numb all the way, so I could feel some discomfort of the needle going in, but completely tolerable. For the next 2-3 days, my lips were pretty swollen, although not freakishly. And after that initial time, they calmed down and looked much more natural. I even considered going back in to get a little more because I loved the results so much! My lips felt soft, and there were no lumps or bumps because during the procedure the P.A. did frequent massaging of the injections to smooth out the lumps. The Juvederm has lasted for over a year for me, and I am looking forward to getting some more done very soon!
